Subject line: Guide to Greek LifeÌý

Sent: August 3, 2022

Loyola's fraternal community provides opportunities for growth and excellence in academics, service, social interaction, intramural athletics, and values-based leadership. It's also a great way to make lifelong friendships. With 14 Greek-lettered organizations, joining a fraternity or sorority is an excellent way to get involved at Loyola. Our Greek Life organizations have completed over 2,000 service hours in the 2021-2022 academic year!

How Do I Join a Fraternity or Sorority?

  • To join a College Panhellenic Council Sorority (CPC) in the fall, students must participate in Primary Recruitment, a mutual selection process by which sororities choose their new members, and potential new members (PNMs) select the chapter that aligns with their values. Primary Recruitment takes place over four days in the fall semester. for Primary Recruitment for the Fall 2022 semester!Ìý
  • The Independent Greek Council (IGC) consists of professional/social fraternities, such as a business fraternity or a music sorority. One can be a member of an IGC chapter as well as any other Fraternity and Sorority Life chapter. Each chapter hosts its own recruitment process each semester.Ìý
  • To join an Interfraternity Chapter (IFC), students have to go through the formal recruitment process. This involves completing a recruitment registration form, attending an informational session, and attending rounds hosted by the member fraternities. to participate in IFC recruitment.
  • Each National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organization, Loyola’s Historical African American chapters, hosts membership intake once per academic year. Each of these organizations has its own rules and guidelines for membership, which can be found on their national websites. Typically, individuals must be a second-year classification to join. It is recommended that during the first year, interested students attend both council and chapter events regarding the organization that they are interested in to learn more about the chapter before going through the intake process. Check out for upcoming events hosted by the NPHC council and its chapters.
