Magis Scholars
Helping You to Succeed
In the Jesuit tradition, “Magis” means “more,” and at Loyola, we’re always asking, “what more can we do to accompany our students to succeed?”
What Is the Magis Scholars Program?
The Magis Scholars Program at Loyola is designed to ensure our students make a successful transition from high school to college. During the application evaluation process, our admissions committee identifies students who have the potential to make a significant impact on our community but their academic record indicates they could benefit from additional support.
The Goal
The goal of the program is to assist students in the development of academic and career skills that will help them succeed in Loyola’s rigorous academic environment.
Program Structure
Students in the Magis program will have access to:
- Admitted student success coaching, from admit through their first year at Loyola;
- Weekly spot in peer tutoring;
- 1-credit college and community class with an emphasis on career and self-exploration
Program Requirements
Students must stay in good academic standing with a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative grade point average after two semesters.
Students must have made satisfactory academic progress, per the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, in order to progress to their sophomore year.
