A Message from the Vice President of University AdvancementÂ
Over the past two years, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with Loyola donors, Mary Lou and John Dasburg to implement their vision of a robust artificial intelligence (AI) program at the . Their generous support afforded the hiring of , a renowned expert in AI, who came to us from the corporate world. Dr. Martin is working to ensure that all of Loyola’s College of Business students leave with a meaningful understanding of how to harness the transformative power of AI in the workplace in ways that improve efficiency while creating a larger impact.
What better place to teach the intricacies of this sometimes scary new technology than Loyola, an institution that prioritizes the teaching and discussion of ethics, morality, and the pursuit of excellence.Â
After one academic year with Loyola, Dr. Martin has made great progress. She not only teaches all freshman students, but also leads an AI committee at the College of Business aimed at developing and implementing a strategy to integrate AI across the entire college. Additionally, she is creating a training program for professors to learn about AI and is teaching her class in various programs, such as the Rayburn Program and the Summer Program for high school students.
The Dasburgs saw potential for Loyola to get ahead of the fray, to ensure that our students had the tools and understanding they need to be successful… and their dream has come true. We are grateful for their support, which will continue to impact students across campus for years to come.
Sincerely,
