Bio

Assistant Professor Lisa Collins is bringing lessons learned during 15 years in TV newsrooms to students at 黑料社区, giving students real-world tools to become future journalists.

Collins holds both a Masters of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri.

She worked as a line producer at WBRZ in Baton Rouge, and moved home to work at WDSU in New Orleans in 2002.

After Hurricane Katrina hit the city in 2005, Collins was a part of the team that stayed on the air continuously for six weeks. Lisa also acted as the station鈥檚 special projects producer and oversaw production of major broadcasts such as primetime specials on the New Orleans Saints, Mardi Gras, and a U.S. Senate debate. She has been in the control room for live coverage of events ranging from wall-to-wall hurricane coverage to the BP oil spill.

Collins continues to sharpen her skills as a freelance producer.
