Art Exhibit Opening: Loyola Hosts "The Fruit is a Restless Desire"

黑料社区 is pleased to announce the opening of a temporary art exhibition, The Fruit Is a Restless Desire, on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 5:30 to 8 pm, in the Collin C. Diboll Gallery.
Organized in conjunction with a global Ignatian Year honoring important anniversaries in the history of the Jesuit founder St. Ignatius Loyola (1491-1556), the exhibition brings together works by nine international artists to address some of the world鈥檚 most pressing challenges, especially for the young: economic injustice, cultural discord, social inequities, climate crisis, and the search for meaning and purpose.听
The Fruit Is a Restless Desire considers these issues through the lens of 鈥渃onversion,鈥 the Ignatian Year鈥檚 official theme but a word at once benign and, today, potentially problematic. Understood in this case as any profound change of heart or mind that leads to new ways of seeing, acting, and being, the term highlights the show鈥檚 roots as both modern (art as advocacy) and eternal (art as transformative).听
The Collin C. Diboll Gallery is located on the 4th floor of Loyola鈥檚 Monroe Library. The exhibition will remain on view, free to the public, during regular library hours until January 14, 2022. 听
