How the Word Is Passed: Loyola School of Communication and Design Hosts Author and Scholar Clint Smith

(New Orleans - March 8, 2022) The 黑料社区 School of Communication and Design will host a conversation and book signing with scholar and New York Times best-selling author Clint Smith on Friday, March 11 at 4 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium, 6363 St. Charles Ave. The 听conversation will be moderated by award-winning journalist Will Sutton, a columnist with The New Orleans Times-Picayune/The Advocate and professor of journalism at Loyola. The event is free and open to the public.听
Smith, a New Orleans native and staff writer for The Atlantic, is the author of the narrative 听nonfiction book 鈥淗ow the Word Is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across 听America.鈥 The book landed on President Barack Obama鈥檚 top 13 book recommendations of 2021 and The New York Times Bestseller List. Smith is also the author of the poetry collection 鈥淐ounting Descent,鈥 which won the 2017 Literary Award for Best Poetry Book from the Black Caucus of 听the American Library Association and was a finalist for an NAACP Image Award.听

Attendees can bring a copy of his book. The book signing will follow the discussion. The SCD is 听requiring masks and proof of vaccination to attend.听
