Francisco Castillo received his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Barry University. While pursuing his degree, he focused on the area of liturgical aesthetics and social justice. He has served as Adjunct Professor in the Theology and Philosophy Department at Barry University, at the Southeast Pastoral Institute, and in the Humanities and Communications Department in Broward College. He also worked as a Senior Editor and Multicultural Specialist at RCL Benziger Publishing. As a Catholic educator for the Archdiocese of Miami, he taught high school and served as Theology Department Chair and Director of Campus Ministry.  

Dr. Castillo has taught courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels in English and Spanish, including, Introduction to Religion, Comparative Religion, Peace and Justice, Sexual Morality, Introduction to Practical Theology, Ministerial Formation and Professional Ethics, Theological Anthropology, Sacramentos y creatividad litúrgica, and Teología de los ministerios.  

His research interests include Catholic social teaching, liturgical theology, theopoesis, liturgical and theological aesthetics, liberation theology, U.S. Hispanic/Latino(a) theology, catechetics, religious studies, comparative religion, religion and film and cultural identity. He has written and published for the Journal of Hispanic/Latino Theology on some of these topics. He is also a writer and poet.
