Barbara J. Fleischer, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pastoral Studies, Emerita, is an organizational psychologist, licensed in the state of Louisiana. As a consultant, she has worked with a number of churches, social service agencies and other non-profit organizations on a variety of planning, leadership development and organizational development issues. She has also presented workshops throughout the U.S. on small Christian community development, communication skills, stress management, and pastoral leadership. Her publications include Facilitating for Growth and Ministers of the Future, a research monograph on lay ministry students funded by the Lilly Endowment, and she has published numerous articles on religious education and pastoral ministry in a variety of journals. At the Loyola Institute for Ministry, Dr. Fleischer coordinated the focus areas in Marketplace Ministry, Small Christian Communities, Hispanic Ministry, Pastoral Care, and the Master of Pastoral Studies dual degree program with the M.S. in Counseling. As emeritus faculty, Dr. Fleischer continues to teach at the institute and serves as the Instructor of Record for Spirituality and Faith Development, Pastoral Leadership and Organization, and Marketplace Ministry Focus Area courses.
